Week of January 27, 2020

Predictably our occupant in the governor’s office is particularly focused on ending abortion rights, and he is not alone. Read our SUNUNU FUN FACTS, it does not disappoint … in a bad way. And join the visibility rally on Wednesday, January 29, in Concord.

We have events leading up to our primary—Andrew Yang, who wants our votes and is working hard to get them, will be in Lebanon at the old Sem Hill school on February 4—and Yang is participating in a panel on climate clean energy with Mayor Pete, Tom Steyer, Bernie Sanders and Bill Weld on February 5. That should be very interesting!

We’re giving you a fire hose of information to listen to and read. Please take our offerings as a way to channel your energy . . . ok sometimes your fury.

Please try to make our monthly program tomorrow, Monday, January 27, at the Mascoma Valley Regional High School Community Auditorium. If you’ve never been there, take the road up the hill and come in the front entrance. We guarantee that IT’S CRIMINAL will not let you down and the women you will meet in the movie and in person will renew your flagging faith that good things still happen when people reach out to one another.

We know, it’s a ton of info, so get cracking!

The last half of January, 2020!

The UV Dems’ programs are really the heart of our group. Consequently, we fall in love with all of them, some more than others. The upcoming program is especially important to us because it reveals a local effort about local people with a local solution for a local problem.

IT’S CRIMINAL is a documentary that shows us the inside of the Sullivan County Prison for Women; it shares a program designed by two Dartmouth professors who bring students to the prison; and it shows us that, at the end of the day, there is scant difference between the privileged students and the incarcerated women. They all struggle, they all try. Our program includes the film by Signe Taylor, followed by a panel of the professors and some of the participants in the film. It will be screened on Monday, January 27th at 6 p.m. at the Mascoma Valley Regional High School Community Auditorium in Canaan (on route 4).

Check out the who, what and when of relevant elections, it is so informative. No more confusion about who is running for what!

Our governor never ceases to provide us new fodder for Sununu Fun Facts–yet more reasons to wave him off!

It hurts my keyboard every time I write the words Mitch McConnell but here we are. Read the details below about how you can make a difference in the fight to help Kentucky Democrats win in that state. We are convinced that writing these postcards, if you have the inclination, is critical to waking people to their choices in these elections. And because we aren’t there, this is a tangible way to turn the tide.

There are other things happening—we just heard Pete will be coming to Concord tomorrow. With just a few weeks left til the primary, we’ve got a lot of deciding to do!
