peaceful protest and August events!

The White House occupant is visiting Manchester, THURSDAY, AUGUST 15.

A peaceful protest has been organized. “Peaceful” does not mean small and quiet. He needs to get a clear idea of how New Hampshire feels about his abuse of power (to say the least). As many people as possible should descend so we cannot be avoided. He needs to see CROWDS of people with their signs, raising their fists in protest.

We DO have other things going on in our region too . . . all peaceful, all interesting, fun and educational. “Putting for Pete “with the Pete team! “Affordable Housing” with the Warren team! Volunteering on Labor Day for “Headrest Rail Trail Ramble:.

See you at one of these and bring friends!

Run for Office!
You? Friends? Local Activists?

Municipal elections across New Hampshire’s cities are just a few short months away!

This past March, local Democratic candidates won over 600 seats across the state during our Town Meeting Day. These victories show that the NHDP’s significant investments in grassroots organizing, community outreach, and town and county committee-building are paying off. With this year’s municipal elections fast approaching, it is critical that we have great Democratic candidates for every office.

If you or anyone you know is interesting in running for local office, please email political@nhdp.org with the subject line “Interested in Running for Office.”

Gun Rights and Laws!

It happened again, twice this weekend, two mass shootings with assault rifles. Washington is in gridlock, so let’s focus on New Hampshire.

Bills that support keeping guns out of schools (HB564), closing loopholes in background checks (HB109), and having a 3-day cooling-off period between purchasing and delivery of a gun, which helps prevent suicides (HB514),  have passed both the NH House & Senate.

Call Governor Sununu, 603.271.2121,  and demand he sign these bills into law.

C-Span aired OSHER@Dartmouth’s Summer Lecture Series session on “Gun Rights”.  Watch this compelling debate!

Debate: Duke University law professor and author Joseph Blocher debates appellate attorney Erin Murphy on the constitutional right to bear arms, the issue of  gun ownership for private purposes, whether “handguns” include assault rifles,  and if is it legal to monitor everyone who has been treated for mental illness.
